Digbeth Counselling & Psychotherapy
Birmingham

Welcome to Digbeth Counselling & Psychotherapy. My name is Matthew Lee, I am a United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) gestalt psychotherapist and an accredited member of the National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS).

I provide both long-term and short-term therapy in person or online, and specialize in treating depression and anxiety, working with abuse, relationship difficulties, anger problems, bereavement and workplace-related stress. I have been working with counselling and psychotherapy clients since 2011 on a one-to-one basis.

I am based at Digbeth Court, in Birmingham city centre, which is within walking distance of several car parks and good public transport links.

I currently offer appointments on Wednesdays and Fridays. Please contact me to discuss in a confidential manner what feels important, painful or challenging to you and to arrange an initial appointment for us to meet.

For more information on the service I provide and where I'm based, please see both the Appointments & Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sections. I'm a member of:

Appointments

I accept bookings by phone or email, by filling in the contact form here or by getting in touch via social media if that's your preference - and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. I do recognise that taking this first step might feel daunting. My advice is to use the method you feel most comfortable with.

My standard fee is £60 for each 50 minute session. Our first appointment is an opportunity for us to decide together whether you wish to proceed with therapy with me. After meeting for the first time we would usually then commit to work together for an agreed number of weeks, typically six in the first instance, as an extended assessment period. After that you can then decide whether and how you wish to continue, either for another fixed period of time or on a longer term or open-ended basis which we would review periodically.

When we first meet I will check with you what your expectations and fears are around therapy. Choosing somebody that you feel comfortable and connected with can be the most important factor and in therapy it is you that is important. If I am not the therapist for you I am happy to recommend others, and alternative approaches for you.  I would always recommend you see a qualified and professionally accredited therapist or one who is on their way to becoming accredited.

When contacting me I may not always be able to respond immediately but all messages will be answered, as soon as is possible - I aim to respond to you within 24 hours on weekdays.

Please note: I am not a 24hr crisis or emergency service. If you need to speak to someone urgently, or outside of my hours, please contact your GP, NHS 111 or the Samaritans on 116 123.

My therapy room is at Digbeth Court Business Centre,162 High St, Bordesley, Birmingham B12 0LD. It's in convenient walking distance from New Street and Moor Street stations. Numerous bus services all stop on Digbeth High Street and there are pay and display car parks nearby - one right next to Digbeth Court, also Trinity Street car park on Heath Mill Lane and the North Yard car park on Gibb Street.
